Project Details
Summit Meghnaghat Power Company Limited (SMPCL), a combined-cycle power plant uses both a gas and a steam turbine together to produce up to 50 percent more electricity from the same fuel than a traditional simple-cycle plant. The waste heat from the gas turbine is used to produce steam for the steam turbine. This is how a combined-cycle plant works to produce electricity and captures waste heat from the gas turbine to increase efficiency and electrical output.
Pursuant with the Implementation Agreement with the Government of Bangladesh (GOB) and the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB), SMPCL set up a dual fuel (Natural Gas/ Liquid Fuel Oil) fired combined cycle power plant (hereinafter called ‘Project’) at Meghnaghat, Narayanaganj in Bangladesh. The capacity of the Project is 335 MW on natural gas and 305 MW on Liquid Fuel Oil. The commercial commissioning of single cycle was on 29th of May 2014 and the Combined Cycle was on June 1, 2015.
The operator of SMPCL’s 335 MW Meghnagaht Dual Fuel Combined Cycle Power Plant, KEPCO Plant Service and Engineering Co. Ltd. (KPS) issued a tender for conducting “Fisheries Survey with Limno-biological Characteristics of the Meghna River Adjacent to the 335 MW dual Fuel Combined Cycle Power Plant, Meghnaghat, Sonargaon, Narayanganj” to satisfy the requirements of the Lenders. EQMS has been awarded the contract for carrying out the scope of work following the Terms of Reference (ToR).
